Duration: 4 weeks.
My role: Project Manager for Concept team, UI design of final website and Branding.
The Jazz Corner, a world renowned jazz club in Hilton Head, Savannah wanted to create an online presence
for the sub-genre of jazz they represented. jazzmuseum.org was created to cater to their need, it is also
the world's first online jazz museum.
We started our design process by experiencing a night of food and music at The Jazz Corner.
After immersing ourselves in the Jazz Coorner and talking to the owners about what they were expecting to get out of our collaboration, we came back and researched the history of Jazz from the 1890s to 1950 to understand the nature of content that needed to be on the museum based on what the Jazz corner wanted.
We concluded that our final product could take three different directions based on our research.
I lead Team A, We explored a timeline approach to show data in a linear layout with the ability to explore further as per need.
We presented our wireframes as a video so our main stakeholders could easily understand exactly what we were trying to create for them.
Scroll through our visual designs. We presented these to the client along with the video.(Click on left and right side of image to scroll.)
After the client asked us to deliver concept A, We found the easiest way to build it so the members of Jazz club would be able to update the website easily.
This was possible because each new entry is just to be filled in a spreadsheet, which populates the timeline. Each detailed item is linked to a Medium page, so Its as simple as connecting the item to the corresponding Medium page.
I consider this project a great success because we bult a website that could be maintained by two sixty year old jazz musicians who knew very little about computers other than basic things like blog writing and spreadsheet handling.
Our final presentation was a demo of how this process works. We also created a guide for them to use.
