Social Dining

Team: Concept- Ashwath Anand, HIna Shahid
Duration: 5 weeks.
My role: Secondary research on the fast food restaurant industry, synthesys of data using various frameworks geared towards innovation, ideation, shooting and editing videos to show concept, information architecture and UX design of app. Most of these tasks were done in collaboration with my teammate Hina.

The challenge

To create a an innovative service that is driven purely by user needs. We chose to analyse the fast food industry to see where they were falling short and created a new kind of fast food restaurant service that cater to many of the pain points that users have.

Social Dining was created to deliver a seamless dining experience with friends. Use the Social Dining app to prebook an entire dining experience including picking a place, time & food, send invites and arrange for transport.
So with Social Dining eating out with friends becomes more fun and less work.

The Process

The process for this projects is very elaborate. Its broken down into carious phases. So pull up a chair, grab some coffee and get ready for a super informative ride.


Phase 1 was research involved a deep dive into existing fast food restaurants to understand who were all the stakeholders, what does the spectrum of offerings give the various customers and we also formed personas for these typical customers.(Click on left and right of images to scroll through the process.)

Phase 2 was more research was aimed at the various industry forces, factors and trends that affect the existing comapnies as well as the new ones trying to establish themselves.


Phase 3 was a synthesis phase where we took insights from all our research upto that point and used a few innovation frameworks and workshops to generate ideas. At the end of this phase we presented 5 innovative ideas.
The Mobile App
The Social Dining experience is created through the app. Here are some snippets of the process from sketching to creating visual designs. We made an interactive mockup of the app so our test users could get a feel of the actual app.
